WHO IS A GUY CALLED GERALD?
CATCH HIM LIVE AT L'Embrasure, Le Petit Morne FOR FS_06 WADIR Kabaré
A Guy Called Gerald is 25+ years of dance music incarnate. From “Voodoo Ray” in 1988 to “Tronic Jazz” released on Germany’s respected Laboratory Instinct label in 2010, this man is a self-written bible of dance music.
He is one of a few special producers who entered dance when it was jackin’ and has never let up. He was the first UK acid house producer and achieved the rare feat of having not one but two instrumental dance tracks in the UK charts at the same time. He formed 808 State with a drum machine, a 303, 2 Roland SH101s and two other humans.
Over the course of his career Gerald has collaborated with everyone from Frankie Knuckles and Goldie through to Derrick May and Herbie Hancock. His remix credits are equally impressive with reworks in his back catalogue for David Bowie, Lamb, Stone Roses, Can, Tricky and Roman Flügel as well as having toured with the likes of New Order and Bebel Gilberto.

WHO IS Menwar?
Stéphano Honoré, (born 21 October 1955 in Cassis, Mauritius better known as Menwar, is a Mauritian percussionist and singer. He was one of the pioneers of modern sega music, forming the group Sagaï in the 1980s. Honoré is a player of the ravanne, for which he has begun to develop a written technique, something that has not been done previously.
Honoré was born in Cassis, Port-Louis. He did not attend school frequently, but attempted to play numerous sports and worked several jobs. He often listened to recordings of traditional Mauritian music, particularly sega (or séga) as a child. In 1977 he released two 45 rpm records on the Madagascar label Green Turtle and two more in 1978. Honoré was known as Lélou before his first cassette, Souvenir le port, was released in 1980, credited as Menwar. Honoré went back to Mauritius in 1993, but still traveled to and from the island of Réunion while producing and performing music. During the 1990s, he participated in a Marseille musical comedy entitled Mokkoand was featured on another artist's album.[4]
Honoré was named Artist of the Year by French radio station Radio France Internationale and stated that he "took the distinction as an honor for a Mauritian artist" (French: Je prends cette distinction comme un honneur pour un artiste mauricien).
Honoré holds strong views about the Mauritian Creole community and believes that the Catholic Church is responsible for the issues that have occurred within it. His songs contain references to the problems that have affected this community. Despite these ideas he is not politically active, in contrast with the musicians of seggae, a Mauritian musical genre which was very popular in the early 1990s.

WHO Are Patyatann?
WHO Are Philippe Thomas Syndicate?
WHO is Lionkklash?
WHO is Avneesh?
With equal accomplishments as a DJ and VJ, Avneesh is both ears and eyes on the decks. For him, the dual worlds of visual and sound are inextricably linked in the event and nightlife arena, where both are critical elements necessary to elevate the audience experience to its highest state. While it is one thing to have reached as far as either a DJ or VJ, it is exceptional for this Mauritius-Singapore talent to be creatively in sync with both at the same time, and for it to form his core identity as he makes his mark. A schizophrenic savant, Avneesh plays with all aspects of the game and he too is sometime graphic designer, professional photographer and music producer as and when the muse calls and the siren beckons. He is the king pin behind the bimonthly music podcast and music releases of his own creative outfit, electrocaÏne.From the island of Mauritius to the island of Singapore, Avneesh carries with him a witches’ brew of sounds, formidable in the heat of a club to tropical garden bar or 20,000-strong beach festival.Born and raised right smack in the middle of a colourful culture and exotic expression, Avneesh goes beyond beats and bars in his sets towards the achievement of musical harmony, form and flow. With the groove in his heart, it’s second nature for him to transport dancers from dub tempo sounds to hip hop and nu jazz to bodyrockin’ house and techno in one eclectic fusion.Over the years, Avneesh has accumulated residencies at Supperclub Singapore (2008) and various bars throughout the island together with his LOOP collective night at Zirca and Homeclub (Singapore). Landmark appearances for the versatile DJ include the F1 Podium Lounge in Singapore (2011), ZoukOut in Singapore (2012) and a dOSe of Escape Festival in Vietnam (2013). He has supported numerous DJs, including Alex from Tokyo, DJ Bone, Grouch, Deetron and Nicolas Lutz. Of his accolades, he was crowned JUICE DJ Quest Champion in 2010 and a DMC Mauritius turntablist finalist in 2007.Combining technical prowess with artistic sensibility, Avneesh’s eye for moving visuals is rooted in the colours, shapes and textures that transform the ordinary 2D experience into an extraordinary 3D immersion. Having had a regular fixture as a VJ at Singapore music institution Zouk, he has been the visual co-pilot to numerous acts including Maya Jane Coles, Soul Clap, Agoria and Mount Kimbie, creating the memorable visual backdrop to match every groove shift and breakdown. Also one of the key moving visualists for Singapore-based label Midnight Shift, he has put pixel to beat for guests including Xhin + Surgeon, Jerome Sydenham, Mike Huckaby and Deetron. In 2013, he made his debut as VJ for artists KiNK and Green Velvet at Decibel Festival (Seattle). His visuals straddle the worlds between the dark, raw, grime and street, comfortably modifying his work to merge with the community underground or the corporate overground for clients such as Red Bull, Heineken, Johnnie Walker, Ray Ban and Puma. His talent spans from the creation of promotional video teasers, to live VJing gigs and projection mapping installations.Warning: this is but a little glimpse of the uniqueness of the sound awaiting you. Let him rearrange your brain with his intoxicating tunes and addictive melodies. Fasten your seatbelts!
WHO is Matsonic?
“There are people who play records and there are DJ’s who blow your mind” That’s how Matsonic is described as a DJ. Matsonic was exposed in music since his very young age. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his family’s eclectic combination of Rock, Jazz and classical music… all which became infused with his own love for electronic music. Matsonic ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence.
He got his passion for his wide range of music taste through a weekly event called Jelly Jazz during his university days. That's the period where all started as a deejay. In 2005, Matsonic went out second in the deejay's competition “SPRITE SLIDE IN DA MIX” and then, the doors of musical scene was open for him to show his talent. In 2008 he founded ill mo (A musical group of deejays). In 2010 he started the Sound of filaos parties which quickly became the yearly party to attend, where top notch local and international artists performed. He was also the resident of Barabar in Grand Baie in 2011 till 2013 with the ill mo crew. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of pronounced foot-shuffling beats.
A very active member of his local community, Matsonic is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of the musical scene. Though he loves playing for the public who goes deep down in his musical selection, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. Today, Matsonic has found plenty of ways to express himself musically.
“For me, it’s all about mood and a deep, hypnotic groove… playing those tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realizing it, regardless of genre, tempo and style”
